Hey Youtube - if not YsabellaBrave, then WHO?! I guess if Joseph Brodsky, Nobel's prize winner, knew MariAnne he wouldn't cast his bitter adjudgement: "All's overgrown with people..."

What's needed is to have someone, very intimidating, a strong arm, walk into Youtube's offices with a wad of cash, and start peeling off $100 bills. That's how it's done in a democracy.

I'd happily volunteer for that duty, and so would many of us.

prisonerb: These people don't read petitions, unless they hit them in the face.
What's better is to find out how much cash they want, to restore not only her original songs, but everything which came before. I am not going to go half-way, on her original works, as she herself has suggested and which she deserves. Whatever cash it takes to lift the ban on her covers, let's do it as a community. This whole case is bat-freeking crazy.

jacksonpaine: She signed with Warner Brothers/Cordless in June, 2007. That's done now, she isn't a WB slave. I have no idea what her contract with WB states, but she's not a "Warner Brothers girl".

I agree. I am reqeusting that ysabella's website be reinstated.

She has a great deal of talent and brings a lot of joy to her 35,000 subcribers.

I believe youtube is making a big mistake. She brings new life to a lot of the old songs she sings.

I'm in although I'm in agreement with Bob Robertson that petitions don't do a lot.

FWIW here's what I wrote.

Please restore ysabellabraves' channel. In a recent email I asked politely for an explanation, however you did not or would not respond. That in itself shows a lack of respect as well as a lack of class on your part. The LEAST you can do is let YouTubers know the reason the channel was terminated. So far you haven't had the decency to do even that. A very disappointed and probably soon former YouTuber. Will Kelton

Best way to have she back is to make youtube clear that she's today no Warner Bros. girl. I'm sure that Youtube is thinking that she's a Warner Bros. girl!

I signed. I was so saddened to see her channel discontinued. I found her music to be uplifting and entertaining. I'd sometimes just play her music while I created in my studio. (I'm Western Bronze Artist) It inspired. I want her back on Youtube.

I signed it in support of our cause- to see her return to You Tube if this is possible. I can only hope that the people who need to see it will read it.

I signed. However, I have never been very confident that petitions will be an effective tool, unless it's like the mailbags the newsboys brought on to the Senate floor, in the film 'Mr. Smith Goes to Washington'.

As a veteran of 1960s protests, I'd rather see mobs of people out there supporting Ysabellabrave with pitchforks and torches, than any piece of paper. That may be a little unrealistic in cyberspace, but it makes good visuals for press and TV.

However, it will all boil down to legal issues involving thousands of copyrights, which are beyond our control. She may be held up for months over this, and eventually she'll be dismissed, after the damage will have been done.

No doubt, some of Ysabellabrave's followers will research the intricacies of modern copyright law, which is fine, but that's up to the legal profession to interpret. No help there.

My only concern is to determine what needs to be done, financially speaking, to have her videos be approved and restored. And my hunch is, not much. What back fees and penalties for performing 80 year old songs are involved? They are minimal, chump change. This is all an injustice and a tempest in a teapot.

Her transgressions are so slight.

ASCAP tried to come up with a standard in 2005, involving nominal, quarterly license fees for non-commercial (or non-remunerative) performances in online media. Not song-specific, it was a blanket coverage for most of these kinds of activities, charged to the person posting copyrighted content. Unfortunately, nobody ever heard of this policy until now, least of all the artists, and even the details are nebulous and tentative, because they were written before Youtube became such a phenomenon.

Suffice to say, we're only talking a few hundred dollars upfront for performance copyright protection, for nearly ALL videos, no matter the quantity, on a quarterly basis. That's a few dollars a song, at most. Holding up someone's career over these petty fees (and any accrued penalties) is ridiculous.

For what it's worth, I appended my comment to the petition:

I want ALL of her videos back. Songwriting rights to some of her material apply to songs written over 80 years ago. Solutions to that issue can be arranged. But her performances of those songs are original and just as deserving of copyright protection as the underlying content. To say that we only should fight for her original compositions is valid only as a first step, and I support it, but to throw away the many wonderful covers and her interpretations is to shortchange much of the incredible work she has done. She brought these old songs alive for newer generations. Without her, some of these songs wouldn't even exist today.

Nonsense. I want the whole pie.
