As you may or may not know, Tourette Syndrome (TS) is a genetic, neurobiological disorder, characterized by involuntary movements and sounds that are known as "tics."

Tics are quite common in childhood, but in moderate or severe cases tics can cause functional impairment, social impairment, and pain. In addition to tics themselves, the usual person with TS has other difficulties because of accompanying and associated disorders. The two most common are attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

Why is Tourette Syndrome Important To Me:

I am an African American Man who has Tourette Syndrome and has had it for approximately 19+ years. I currently live in Knoxville, Tennessee in the project (public housing), but I am originally from Connecticut.

I am trying to increase people's awareness in the African American Community, as well as other minority, and non-minorities who do not know about Tourette Syndrome.

I understand you lost your job, you have been very sick with fibromyalgia and the last two years have been tough, difficult--lots of setbacks. My mom suffers with this and I understand some of the ups and downs from her. Watching, I believe her greatest frustraights is that one day she's fine up and round & about, and the next she's in the bed in pain. When you are independent this brings an emotional pain as well---really lots of diseases can be emotion toll. And adding, not really sure who to depend on or call can be a burden too. Moreover, adding to the drama the financial headache. And, I sure doctors don't make it any better as well. They don't offer lots of hope; however, let me tell you/remind you about one who does----------JESUS

When Jesus die on the cross for our sins; he also die for our healing.
Isa 53:4-5

4 Surely He has borne our griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses) and carried our sorrows and pains [of punishment], yet we [ignorantly] considered Him stricken, smitten, and afflicted by God [as if with leprosy]. [Matt 8:17.]

Don't denial that you are sick but, denial the sickness a right to stay in your body. If you came home and found a person in your home that was drunk and dead asleep who had no right being there would you ignore that person, even if friends or family did? No, you would not, they are there illegally and you would call the authorities and that person would be removed. In this case Jesus gave us the authorities to speak his word into our situation but, we must believe his word. Family and good friends can sometimes hinder us in our believing they mean well but, all too often they speak what they see and hear of man. The bible said the Just shall live by faith not by sight. Hebrews 10:38-39 and Hebrews 11:1----- (live by faith not die by faith!)---Live
There's a story in the New Testament where Jesus was asked to come and heal a man's daughter.
Jesus agreed to come; however, the time he arrived she already passed. Moreover, the man's family and friends say, tell him never mind it’s too late, she gone. Jesus looked at the man and said only believe and he said she's not dead but asleep. People heard this and they mocked him said he's nuts.
After all not many believe he was the son of God. Jesus entered the home where the little girl was staying and going in there was lots of crying and sadness among the people present. So, he put the out of the house! And he said to the girls’ parents only believe. As he entered the room he only took three of his twelve disciples with him. He took the girl by the hand and called her by her name and said GET UP! And she did.
next, he said to feed her. Read Luke 8: 40-56
what does mean?
1. Get a new vision The Lord's vision ------------she's not dead but asleep
God's vision for your life will away bring mockers” Trust in the Lord with all thy heart and lean not to your understanding"
2. Next put out doubt, fear and -Unbelief -----he put them all out of the house (it or they must go)
